Pink or Blue?!

Scott and I had been looking forward to December 21 for quite some time now!!!  That Saturday morning we flew home to Louisville and we were eagerly awaiting our afternoon elective ultrasound.  Then my sister was to host a "reveal party" that evening with our families to finally find out if we were having a boy or a girl.  The ladies that worked at the Ultrasound Studio were so nice and played along with our plan to not find out what we were having until the party.  Scott was excited to be the one to go get the reveal balloons and was allowed to open the envelope first.  He loved knowing the news before me, but he kept it a secret for the next couple of hours!

The Ultrasound Studio had this cute Christmas tree with pink and blue ornaments.  The suspense was killing us as we waited for our turn to see the sweet baby.
Words can't express how neat it was to finally get a glimpse of our baby.  The last time we had seen it was at our 8 week appt. and there wasn't much to see at such an early time in the pregnancy.  This was a totally different experience at 18 weeks.  We saw the cutest little profile I've ever seen of the face and the baby was flip flopping all around.  I can't believe I don't feel those movements yet!  We saw the feet kicking (Scott called them good soccer feet) and the baby was swallowing and waving his or her arms at us.  I was still convinced after the ultrasound that it was a girl. The ultrasound tech kept going back to "make sure she had the gender right" and I figured that it would only be questionable if it was a girl.  Scott really didn't have a preference or a strong opinion one way or the other.  For those attending the reveal party you were to wear pink or blue according to what you thought.  As you can see I was in hot pink and Scott wore both colors.
We also had people write on a pink or blue ornament what name they wanted the baby to call them in the future.   I was "Mommy" and Scott chose "Dada."
These are the cute cupcakes my sister made...She's the best Hostess!  Thank you to the Holemans for having our reveal party at your house days before Christmas.

FINALLY it was time to open our present to see if we had pink balloons or blue balloons inside.  It was the best Christmas present we could have received!!
Open it!

Despite feeling like this baby was a girl (so much for maternal instinct!) I immediately was thrilled for a little boy!  Knowing the sex of the baby makes everything seem more real .  We have been on cloud nine ever since we saw the little guy. Now, time to pick out a name!
We have had fun receiving baby boy gifts from our families for Christmas!  It was a wonderful holiday at home and we hope yours was just as special.

Christmas in Florida

We have been trying to get into the Christmas spirit here in Florida despite 70-80 degree weather most of the month!  I know it sounds like I'm bragging, but let me tell you that it's hard to feel like its really December when you are surrounded by palm trees and wearing sun dresses.  I would LOVE a good snow storm about now!  Once we move to Louisville (some day!)  I know I will look back at this and think I was crazy for wanting cold weather.  Anyway, we have been doing some decorating and that makes our home seem like the holidays.  I made Wilson a collar so he was in the spirit too.  He is fascinated with our tree and originally kept trying to lick it.  Now he just likes to sleep under it.  My favorite thing so far this holiday has been watching TV on the couch with the only light being from the Christmas tree, a candle burning and my view of our tree with Wilson sleeping by it and our stockings hanging. Even if we have the windows open next to us as well.  :)
On a different note, I just had my 16 week appointment and everything continues to go well for the pregnancy.  I heard the baby's heartbeat with a Doppler and it was about 150 bpm....old wives tales say greater than 140 is a girl!  While Dr. "George" was listening there was suddenly an extra background noise and the doctor laughed and said that was the baby kicking!  Made me smile.  Still hard to believe there is a baby in there!  He told me to keep doing what was I doing cause everything looks great.

Picking out our Christmas tree!

Our Christmas tree ornaments are mainly ones our parents have given us over the years.  My mom got me a new ornament every year relating to our life at the time.  She boxed all my ornaments up for me this year to bring to our tree. We enjoyed going through them as we decorated, but Scott did NOT approve of this one.  I'll have to sneak it on the tree.
Hope you have a happy holiday season!

Home for the Holidays

We were so excited to be able to fly home to Louisville for Thanksgiving this year.  We have so much to be thankful for this year!  We love being with our families for the holidays and it's something we both were looking forward to.  Thanksgiving Eve was when Scott and I reunited years ago, so it is a memorable time of year as well.  It was great to be amongst family and friends for a weekend.  Up next, home for Christmas!  And the best present of all....Dec. 21 we find out the sex of the baby.  I'm dying to know!!
So what do you think...boy or girl????
