Pink or Blue?!

Scott and I had been looking forward to December 21 for quite some time now!!!  That Saturday morning we flew home to Louisville and we were eagerly awaiting our afternoon elective ultrasound.  Then my sister was to host a "reveal party" that evening with our families to finally find out if we were having a boy or a girl.  The ladies that worked at the Ultrasound Studio were so nice and played along with our plan to not find out what we were having until the party.  Scott was excited to be the one to go get the reveal balloons and was allowed to open the envelope first.  He loved knowing the news before me, but he kept it a secret for the next couple of hours!

The Ultrasound Studio had this cute Christmas tree with pink and blue ornaments.  The suspense was killing us as we waited for our turn to see the sweet baby.
Words can't express how neat it was to finally get a glimpse of our baby.  The last time we had seen it was at our 8 week appt. and there wasn't much to see at such an early time in the pregnancy.  This was a totally different experience at 18 weeks.  We saw the cutest little profile I've ever seen of the face and the baby was flip flopping all around.  I can't believe I don't feel those movements yet!  We saw the feet kicking (Scott called them good soccer feet) and the baby was swallowing and waving his or her arms at us.  I was still convinced after the ultrasound that it was a girl. The ultrasound tech kept going back to "make sure she had the gender right" and I figured that it would only be questionable if it was a girl.  Scott really didn't have a preference or a strong opinion one way or the other.  For those attending the reveal party you were to wear pink or blue according to what you thought.  As you can see I was in hot pink and Scott wore both colors.
We also had people write on a pink or blue ornament what name they wanted the baby to call them in the future.   I was "Mommy" and Scott chose "Dada."
These are the cute cupcakes my sister made...She's the best Hostess!  Thank you to the Holemans for having our reveal party at your house days before Christmas.

FINALLY it was time to open our present to see if we had pink balloons or blue balloons inside.  It was the best Christmas present we could have received!!
Open it!

Despite feeling like this baby was a girl (so much for maternal instinct!) I immediately was thrilled for a little boy!  Knowing the sex of the baby makes everything seem more real .  We have been on cloud nine ever since we saw the little guy. Now, time to pick out a name!
We have had fun receiving baby boy gifts from our families for Christmas!  It was a wonderful holiday at home and we hope yours was just as special.
